Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife

The Board of County Commissioners is seeking one public-spirited citizen of Churchill County who is willing to serve as a member on the Churchill County Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife for a term that expires June 30, 2027. This committee serves as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners and Nevada Wildlife Commission for the management of wildlife. Preference will be given for a person who has a commitment to community service to represent the general public and/or a person who represents the agricultural industry or hunters or trappers in Churchill County. This is a five-member committee with staggered terms of three years. A file with the announcement and application can be found here

Board of Equalization

The Board of Churchill County Commissioners is seeking the names of public-spirited citizens who are willing to serve as an alternate member of the Board of Equalization. The Board of Equalization is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, authorized and directed to determine the valuation of any property assessed by the County Assessor and to change and correct valuation found to be incorrect, either by adding thereto or by deducting therefrom such sum as is necessary to make it conform to the taxable value of the property assessed, and any other matters properly relating thereto. The board shall hold such number of meetings as may be necessary to care for the business of equalization presented to it. 

The board is seeking to fill one alternate position with an unexpired term expiring December 31, 2023. Persons having real estate or appraisal experience will be given preference in the selection process. General knowledge of computers is required because board packets will be submitted in electronic format. Interested persons may obtain an application at the Human Resources Department, 155 N. Planning CommissionDone Editing

The Board of County Commissioners is seeking three public-spirited citizens who are willing to serve as a member on the Churchill County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission is an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners and will meet at least once monthly. These persons will be on a seven (7) member board responsible for decisions with Planning Department matters associated within Churchill County. One appointee will fill a term through October 31, 2026, one through December 31, 2026, and the other will fill a term through February 28, 2027. Computer knowledge and experience is essential. Familiarity with Churchill County and a broad understanding of Churchill County’s governance, Master Plan, and land use planning policies is preferred.
