Program Information

Churchill County Parks and Recreation is proud to offer the SUMFUN Summer Day Camp Program. SUMFUN is a full summer of day camp running June through August. Camp is open to youth 6 to 12 years of age from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each week includes a theme, snacks, games, activities, crafts, field trips and swimming.

SUMFUN goes swimming 2-3 times per week. If you have any questions regarding swimming, please feel free to contact our office at (775) 423-7733 or the Aquatic Center at (775) 423-7091.

Financial Assistance (PDF) is available through the Children’s Cabinet and Churchill County Social Services to those who qualify.

StaffStart: Camp Counselor Tomorrow

This junior counselor program provides 13 to 14 year olds with knowledge and skills required to be responsible counselors for youth programs. Lessons are grouped into five main areas: behaviors, response, mentoring, leadership, and professionalism. Participants receive a t-shirt, participant manual, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification.

A volunteer internship as a junior counselor, mentored by our professional camp staff, will be offered during the summer for those who complete the course.

Holiday Break Day Camps

Winter Fun Day camp offers a fun, educational, and engaging option for parents searching for youth activities during winter break. Winter Fun is a high quality, full-day program that provides recreational and learning activities in a safe and structured environment for children in grades kindergarten-8th. Participants enjoy games, crafts, snacks, and swimming at the Churchill County Aquatics Center. Children will also participate in science experiments and create decorations for the Holidays!
