Established in 2017, the Toy Closet is under the operation of the Family Programs branch of the Tenth Judicial District Court and is run by volunteers. All toys and books are donated by generous community members or organizations and are given to children in foster care or other children in the community who are in need. On February 28, 2020 the Toy Closet was renamed to ’Mary Sauer Memorial Toy Closet’ in honor of Mary Sauer, who had spent years providing service and support to children who were abused and/or neglected or who suffered from addiction issues through her work with Juvenile Probation and as a CASA.
How to Donate
We gladly accept new toys, and new and gently used children’s books. You can contact Ms. Karlson or drop off any donation at the CASA office during normal business hours.
We conduct an annual toy drive each April through our annual 5K Fun Run. Each year, the run has a theme of the type of toys for runners and walkers to donate.
We are very sorry to announce that the Annual 5K Fun Run, recently renamed the Mary Sauer Memorial 5K, has been cancelled. We want the community to stay safe and healthy, and this is our part in helping ensure this continues.
If you would still like to donate to the Mary Sauer Memorial Toy Closet, there will be bins downstairs in front of the Toy Closet Door on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. where you can drop toys off.
Thank you all very much for your support, and we hope that you will participate in next year’s event!
We would like to thank the community for all the recent donations to the Mary Sauer Memorial Toy Closet. We are very grateful and appreciate your support.
